Getting blood work has never been easier. The harder questions usually come afterward. Why was this test ordered? Is an abnormal number actually concerning? Does a result inside the reference range rule out a problem? Should something be repeated? And how does any of it fit with your symptoms, medications, history and goals?
That's where having a provider involved matters. At EliteRx, lab testing isn't just about generating a report. Your provider can help determine which tests make sense, review the results in context, and explain what, if anything, should happen next.
This is why we don't lead with a list of panels. A value outside a reference range doesn't automatically mean disease, and a value inside the range doesn't guarantee everything is fine. The numbers only mean something next to the rest of the picture.
There is no blood test that checks everything
Patients often ask for a "full panel" or a blood test that checks everything. There isn't one single test that evaluates every aspect of your health. Different tests answer different questions, and the goal isn't to order every test available. It's to decide which information is actually useful for you.

Your lab order should match the question you're trying to answer
Routine blood work can provide useful information, but there are times when a provider may want a more targeted look. Maybe you're establishing a baseline. Maybe you're following an existing condition. Maybe you're trying to understand persistent symptoms. Or labs are being used to guide care such as hormone therapy or medical weight management. Instead of assuming everyone needs the same panel, EliteRx can tailor the order to the clinical question.
Your provider can review your history, symptoms and goals and determine which baseline testing is reasonable, rather than automatically ordering every test available.
A "normal" result doesn't necessarily answer every possible medical question. Your provider can review what was actually tested, your symptoms and whether another evaluation is appropriate.
You can discuss the test you're interested in and why with your provider. Whether it makes sense to order depends on the test and your individual situation.
Custom lab testing without the guesswork
EliteRx has standard panels for common evaluations, and you can also request additional tests. Every request goes through provider review and approval. A full appointment isn't automatically required: if a request is clinically appropriate and doesn't need added medical decision-making, your provider may approve it without a separate visit. An appointment is needed when the request involves symptoms, diagnosis, treatment planning or other medical decision-making.

You schedule your appointment at Quest and bring your ID. If you prefer, you may use your insurance for the testing instead, though coverage and any balance are between you and your plan.

What does "normal" actually mean on a blood test?
Most lab reports compare your result with a reference range. But a reference range is not the same thing as a diagnosis. A result slightly outside the range may not mean something is wrong. A result inside the range doesn't automatically mean there's nothing to investigate. Results can also be influenced by medications, hydration, diet, timing, health conditions and how a test was performed.
Reference ranges are generally based on results from groups of healthy people, which means some healthy people can still have a result outside the listed range. Different laboratories may also use different ranges. That's why your provider looks at the numbers alongside the rest of the picture rather than reacting to a single flag.
What blood tests are commonly ordered?
There is no medically universal list of "the most important blood tests." What should be tested depends on the person and the reason for testing. That said, several types of blood work are commonly used in routine medical care.
Complete Blood Count (CBC)
Measures different blood cells, including red cells, white cells and platelets, along with hemoglobin and hematocrit.
Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP)
Measures 14 substances, with information related to glucose, electrolytes, kidney function, liver-related markers and proteins.
Lipid Panel
Measures cholesterol-related markers and triglycerides, used when evaluating cardiovascular risk.
Hemoglobin A1C
Reflects average blood glucose over roughly the previous three months, used in diabetes and prediabetes screening and monitoring.
Additional targeted testing
Depending on the person, symptoms and reason for testing, a provider may consider other tests rather than ordering the same panel for everyone.
A lab company gives you results. EliteRx connects them to your care.
Direct-to-consumer lab testing is useful when you already know exactly what you want tested. But a longer test menu doesn't answer the question of what you should test, or what to do with the result.
EliteRx approaches lab work as part of your medical care. Your results can be considered alongside the same health issues your provider may already be helping manage, from primary care and hormone therapy to weight management and overall health. The distinction isn't that we run tests nobody else can. It's continuity: the provider reviewing your lab work can be the same practice managing the rest of your care.
What does custom lab testing cost?
EliteRx places the order and reviews the results with you, and the laboratory testing itself is completed and paid for through Fullscript, with your blood draw performed at Quest.
For hormone evaluations, EliteRx has standard pricing: a typical initial hormone-evaluation panel is $155 and a typical follow-up panel is $125. Those prices include EliteRx placing the order and reviewing the results with you. Additional or non-hormone testing is priced according to the specific Fullscript lab order.
You may instead choose to use your insurance for laboratory testing where it's available, but confirming coverage and paying any amount your plan doesn't cover is your responsibility, not EliteRx's.

There isn't one standard panel that's right for everyone. The appropriate tests depend on your age, medical history, symptoms, medications and the reason for testing. EliteRx can help determine which labs are appropriate rather than automatically ordering every available test.
No single blood test checks every organ, disease, hormone, vitamin or health condition. Tests such as a CBC or CMP each evaluate specific areas, and additional testing may be ordered when clinically appropriate.
"Full blood work" isn't one standardized test. It may refer to combinations of common tests such as a CBC, CMP, lipid testing or other labs, depending on why the testing is being performed.
There isn't one universal list of red flags. Whether a result is concerning depends on the specific test, how abnormal it is, your symptoms, medical history and other results. An out-of-range value doesn't automatically mean you have a disease.
A result outside the laboratory's reference range may or may not indicate a medical problem. Your provider may consider the degree of abnormality, other results, symptoms, history and whether repeat testing is appropriate.
Yes. Lab testing is only one part of a medical evaluation, and a result within a reference range doesn't rule out every possible condition. Persistent symptoms should be discussed with a provider rather than judged by a lab report alone.
Lab orders and payment are handled through Fullscript, and blood draws are performed at Quest. You schedule your Quest appointment and bring your ID. You may instead use your insurance for testing if you prefer, but confirming coverage and paying any amount your plan doesn't cover is your responsibility.
The total has two possible parts: EliteRx's clinical service for ordering and reviewing your labs, and the laboratory's charge for actually performing the tests. The laboratory bills separately, and costs vary depending on which tests are ordered and where you have them done. EliteRx does not bill insurance for its clinical services, and can't guarantee whether an outside lab or your insurance will cover a particular test.
