Medical Weight Loss in Pensacola

Weight loss is rarely just about knowing what to eat. As part of your primary care at EliteRx, medical weight management combines evaluation, lab review, treatment when appropriate, and one-on-one coaching in the same clinic. Your provider and your coach are on the same team.

Our approach

The goal isn't to hand you a medication. It's to build a plan you can live with.

A prescription can be part of medical weight management. It is not the entire program, and treating it that way is why so many attempts stall the moment the medication does.

EliteRx starts by understanding the whole picture: your health history, current medications, previous weight-loss attempts, lab results, sleep, nutrition, activity and your actual goals. Then the plan is built around what is happening in you specifically, rather than starting everyone on the same drug or the same diet.

Two people can arrive at the same weight for completely different reasons. Hormonal, metabolic, medication-related, behavioral and lifestyle factors can all influence weight, and they only get sorted out when someone actually looks.

In plain terms

What is medical weight loss?

Medical weight loss is clinician-directed weight management based on your health history, a physical evaluation, laboratory findings, lifestyle and weight-related health risks. Treatment may include nutrition and activity changes, behavioral support, medical monitoring and prescription weight-loss medication when clinically appropriate.

That makes it different from a commercial diet program, a supplement plan, an internet "fat burner," or a medication-only telehealth service that ships you a drug and little else. The difference isn't a slogan: it's an actual provider, actual labs, and an actual plan for what happens after the weight starts to move.

What to expect

What happens at your first appointment

A real clinical process, not a five-minute intake and a prescription.

1. Clinical assessment

Your weight history, health conditions, medications, previous programs, goals and the barriers that got in the way before.

2. Medical exam

Weight, blood pressure and BMI, plus a Styku body-composition scan, so the plan starts from real data rather than a guess.

3. Lab review

Individualized lab work when appropriate, ordered through Fullscript and drawn at Quest, then reviewed with you to understand what may be influencing your weight and health.

4. Lifestyle analysis

Food patterns, activity, sleep, schedule, work demands and past obstacles, because a plan that ignores your real life doesn't last.

5. Build the plan

Nutrition guidance, coaching, medical follow-up and medication when appropriate, put together around you rather than a template.

Ongoing follow-up

Weight management is not a single visit. Follow-up appointments are scheduled around your response, any medication changes and your clinical needs, not treated as an afterthought.

Medication

Weight-loss medication is one tool, not the whole program

Prescription weight-loss medications have genuinely changed obesity treatment. They are also not appropriate for every patient, and they are not a substitute for individualized medical care.

When medication is part of a plan, the choice depends on real factors: your medical history, weight-related risk, current medications, possible contraindications, side-effect profile, cost and access, what you have tried before, and your own preferences. That is a conversation with a provider, not a checkbox.

EliteRx provides individualized, medically supervised weight-loss care, including GLP-1 medications when clinically appropriate. Your provider will walk you through the options that fit your situation, what to expect, and how you'll be monitored. What we won't do is hand everyone the same drug and call it a program.

GLP-1 medications

Where GLP-1 medications fit

GLP-1-based medications are prescription treatments that can be used for chronic weight management in appropriate patients. It's worth being precise about the names, because they get blurred constantly:

Wegovy (semaglutide) and Zepbound (tirzepatide) are FDA-approved specifically for chronic weight management. Ozempic and Mounjaro contain those same active ingredients but are FDA-approved for type 2 diabetes, not weight loss. Which medication, if any, is appropriate is a clinical decision made with a provider.

EliteRx offers semaglutide and tirzepatide GLP-1 options when they're clinically appropriate. Medication selection, dosage and availability are determined during your evaluation, so if GLP-1 therapy is right for you, your provider will confirm eligibility, explain what to expect, and monitor you over time, with the coaching and lifestyle side running alongside rather than after.

What makes EliteRx different

Your provider and your coach, under the same roof

EliteRx has a dedicated fitness area inside the clinic. That means the medical plan doesn't stop at "eat better and exercise." You can get actual one-on-one help learning where to begin, how to use the equipment, how to move safely, how to build strength, and how to turn all of it into a routine you'll keep.

And this is not just for people who already work out. If exercise has never been part of your life, that's the point of coaching:

You don't have to already be fit to start. You don't need to know how to use the equipment. You don't need to walk into a crowded gym and figure it out alone.

The starting point is your starting point. That's a very different offer than a medication shipped to your door.

More than the scale

Why strength and fitness matter during weight loss

Weight loss isn't only about a smaller number on the scale. A good program also focuses on maintaining physical function, preserving strength, improving fitness and building activity you can sustain, all of which support keeping the weight off over time.

That's the whole reason the coaching and the medical side live together here. You're building real skills while treatment is happening, instead of waiting until a medication ends to wonder what comes next.

If you've tried before

You're not starting over from nothing

Most people who come in for medical weight management have already tried plenty: calorie tracking, low-carb, fasting, commercial programs, supplements, gym memberships, trainers, maybe previous medications. If that's you, the question isn't "why didn't you try harder?"

The question is what actually happened, what got in the way, and what needs to be different this time. Rigid plans that demand perfect adherence tend to burn people out. So the emphasis here is individualization, honest conversation, sustainability and a plan that gets adjusted, rather than one more all-or-nothing system you're expected to white-knuckle.

Built for the long run

Losing weight is one phase. Knowing what to do next is the program.

EliteRx isn't designed around "how much can we get the scale to move in twelve weeks?" The goal is helping you learn the habits, movement and decision-making that keep weight managed over time.

That includes repeatable eating habits, sustainable activity, strength, understanding your own triggers and barriers, regular follow-up, adjusting medication when appropriate, and a real plan for maintenance rather than a cliff at the end of a program.

Obesity is generally managed as a chronic condition. Some people regain weight after stopping anti-obesity medication, which is exactly why the lifestyle and coaching side matters: you're building the skills while treatment is happening, not after.

Weight and health

It's about more than the scale

Excess weight can be connected to a range of health considerations that may come up during care, including blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, sleep, joint strain, mobility, cardiometabolic risk and everyday energy.

Weight reduction can improve certain weight-related health risks for many patients. That is worth saying plainly, and it's also worth saying honestly: this is individualized medical care, not a promise to prevent, reverse or eliminate any specific disease. What your weight means for your health is a conversation with your provider, grounded in your labs and history.

Not everyone is automatically placed on the same drug.

A gym inside the clinic

The medical plan and the practical execution live in the same building.

No previous gym experience required. The starting point is your starting point.

One connected team

Is it for you

Who may be a candidate?

Medical weight management may be a fit for adults who have struggled to lose weight through lifestyle changes alone, who have regained weight repeatedly, who have weight-related health concerns, who want a medical evaluation before starting any medication, who need structured support, or who simply aren't sure how to begin exercising and want real guidance.

Medication candidacy is a separate, individualized question: prescription eligibility depends on clinical factors and the specific medication being considered, and it's decided with your provider, not by a number on a website.

Cost

Medical weight loss cost in Pensacola

EliteRx is a self-pay clinic and does not bill insurance. The initial medical weight-loss consultation is $169, and follow-up appointments are the same rate, scheduled around your response and clinical needs. Every EliteRx patient also gets complimentary access to our Styku body-composition scanner.

Health coaching with David Gelb is optional: the first coaching consultation is complimentary, and ongoing coaching starts at $100 per month (reduced from $150). Medication is priced separately, and because the specific medication, dose and availability vary from patient to patient, that cost is discussed directly with your provider rather than advertised as a single number. You'll know what your plan involves and what it costs before you commit to anything.

Common questions

Medical weight loss FAQ

Medical weight loss is clinician-directed weight management based on your health history, physical evaluation, lab findings, lifestyle and weight-related health risks. It may include nutrition and activity changes, behavioral support, medical monitoring and prescription medication when clinically appropriate.

There is no single best treatment for everyone. Effective treatment depends on your medical history, weight-related risks, lifestyle, treatment eligibility and individual response. For some patients prescription medication may be appropriate, usually alongside nutrition, activity and ongoing medical care.

Yes, when it is clinically appropriate. Prescription weight-loss medication requires a medical evaluation to determine whether it fits your health history, other medications and weight-related risks.

Yes. EliteRx offers semaglutide and tirzepatide GLP-1 options when clinically appropriate. Whether GLP-1 therapy is right for you, and which option and dose, is determined during your evaluation based on your health history, risk factors and goals. Because selection, dosage, availability and cost vary from patient to patient, your provider reviews the specifics with you rather than listing them on a page.

Activity is part of long-term weight management, but the plan starts at your current ability level. EliteRx offers one-on-one coaching inside the clinic, so you get real help learning how to move safely rather than just being told to exercise more.

That's exactly why one-on-one coaching exists. You don't have to already be fit, know how to use the equipment, or figure it out alone. Coaching starts at your starting point.

Rate varies based on your starting point, health, treatment and individual response. Clinical plans prioritize safe, sustainable progress rather than a guaranteed number, and your provider sets expectations for your situation.

Not necessarily for a medical weight-management consultation. Eligibility for a specific prescription medication depends on that medication's FDA-approved indications, your health history and other clinical factors. Some FDA-approved weight-management medications use BMI along with weight-related health conditions as part of their criteria, but that's a conversation with your provider, not a cutoff on a website.

There isn't one fixed panel for every patient. Lab work is individualized based on your health history, medications, risk factors and the treatment being considered. When testing is ordered, it's placed through Fullscript and drawn at Quest, and your provider reviews the relevant results with you before starting, so any medication decision is based on your full clinical picture rather than weight alone.

Trying to force a large amount of weight loss in a very short time may not be appropriate or safe for many people. A clinician should set realistic expectations based on your individual situation rather than a fixed target.

Obesity is generally managed as a chronic condition, and some people regain weight after stopping anti-obesity medication. Whether to continue, reduce, change or stop medication is an individualized decision. Building lifestyle and fitness skills during treatment is part of planning for it.

No. EliteRx is a self-pay clinic and does not bill insurance. Program options and pricing are explained up front, with no surprise insurance bills.
